Wow, Mike! Your web site looks great!!

58 days to go at work. We are administering the 9th grade proficiency test makeups this week. Next week it's the new Ohio Graduation Test (OGT) for sophomores. Then in May, we'll administer the 9th grade Proficiency Tests again. In the meantime, we'll check our seniors current grades to be sure they are on track to graduate, change some schedules and change/add a lot of grades at teachers requests. The grade labels for our students have not yet been provided to us, so when they come in we'll have to put them on each students record, check to make sure they are all accurate and make any changes necessary. Pretty exciting, huh?!!

I look forward to getting outside and walking/riding, but at this point all I feel like doing is coming home and taking a nap every afternoon. When Spring arrives I'll get at it once again.

Had a great weekend visiting with my brother and his wife! We meet every winter, over a weekend, near Richmond, Indiana, which is about half way between us. They live near Peoria, Illinois and that's about a 10 hour drive one way. Wish we lived closer! I'm planning to retire at the end of this school year and only have about 60 working days left. I can't wait!!! Neither can I believe that retirement has finally arrived. Shirley and I will take a 3 week driving vacation out west right after the end of the school year (mid June) and then I get to start working on some of my interests other than Macs. I need to lose weight, start walking and riding my bike and get back into shape for some backpacking, which I love to do!! Good to be home again. Thanks, Laurie, for watching Oscar (one of our cats) for us for the weekend and for giving him his insulin shots!!

Well, I'm not really sure how this is going to go. Just talked with my son, Mike. He's so excited about having his own server and his new G4, dual 1.25 Mac.

I had a fairly good day today. I'm a school counselor at an inner city school. Some of the kids come from pretty shakey homes, so they can be a challenge. It's nice to see some of them growing and finding goals and working toward them.

There are lots of inherited problems with our computer system. Our educational technology director has a huge job before him. There are lots of roadblocks to being able to work with kids the way I'd like to. Many of them are technology related, but could be eased by a real understanding, by some administrators, of what we, as counselors, are responsible to do and how much time that takes.

I could write a lot about the above, but I'll save some for another time. I wrote today because Mike checked my blog and I hadn't written anything since the first one. He's really a neat guy and I'm very proud of him and I want to please him. So, maybe I'll get into this on a regular basis?!?!

First blog! This might be something I really enjoy. I like the idea of posting my feelings and thoughts on a somewhat regular basis. It's kind of scary to think that the thoughts I choose to post will be available to anyone who's curious enough to read them. I've always been cautious about expressing my feelings to those I don't know well and often even to those I do know well. Here's hoping!
